Ninja's Trust - Australian Retired Police Dogs is committed to honouring the service and loyalty of retired police dogs. Our focus is on providing these four legged heroes with the care, respect and support they deserve after years of dedicated service.
Ninja's Trust was established as a charity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) in December 2023.
About Us
Ninja's Trust was founded following the death of Australian Federal Police Service Dog, Ninja.
In honour of Ninja's service and built on a passion to improve the health and welfare of retired police dogs, Ninja's Trust was created to defend, honour and heal retired police dogs from across Australia.
Police dogs primarily retire because of age. These highly intelligent and well-trained dogs work throughout their lives in training and in active service.
Retired police dogs do not receive financial support or a pension in their retirement, meaning the responsibility for their care and vet bills fall solely to their ex-handler or new owner.
Defend
Ninja's Trust will actively work to influence lawmakers and seek partnerships with corporate entities to support the retirement of police dogs in Australia. We will champion the rights of these dogs and lobby for their recognition as sworn members of the police force.
Honour
Police Service dogs are the unsung heroes of our First Responders. These highly trained animals conduct high risk tasks to support the Australian community. They consistently provide outstanding service and risk their lives to keep the public safe. We will celebrate the service of these dogs and raise awareness of their incredible achievements.
Heal
The cost of caring for a Retired Police Dog falls solely on their previous handler and/or new owner. To say thank you for their unconditional service to our communities, Ninja's Trust will provide much needed financial support to help cover the costs of medical care, in addition to daily costs associated with homing a retired police dog.
